Minig-town > Districts

Development and prestent of our districts

Schneeberg is a member of the Association of Towns called “Silberberg” (Silver Mountain) which also includes the towns of Aue, Lauter, Lößnitz, Schwarzenberg and the health resort Schlema.

The town is situated at the main roads 93 and 169 and has a middle altitude of 478m (1.567,8 ft.) above sea level.

Our town with its three districts Neustädtel, Griesbach and Lindenau has a population of 16.500 inhabitants and is situated in the administrative district of Aue-Schwarzenberg, in the free state Saxony.

These districts were founded as old small villages by frankish farmers in the 12th and 13th centuries.

Even though Neustädtel has evolved into a village and later on into an own town.
